About Dr. Horowitz

Dr. Evan Horowitz is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic sports medicine surgeon specializing in the surgical and nonsurgical treatment of both basic and complex sports medicine injuries and fractures involving the knee and hip, shoulder and elbow, hand and wrist, and foot and ankle. He is also specialized in joint replacement procedures involving the shoulder, knee, and hip.

Dr. Horowitz, a native South Floridian, graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology with a Minor in Business Administration. He earned his Medical Degree at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine, where he was elected into the Gold Humanism Honor Society and was awarded the Student Teacher of the Year award.

Following medical school, Dr. Horowitz completed 5 years of orthopedic surgery residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center and Kings County Hospital - Brooklyn's busiest Level 1 trauma center. During that time, he contributed to the field of orthopaedic surgery research by co-authoring several peer-reviewed journal publications. In his final year, Dr. Horowitz served as Chief Resident.

He then completed subspecialty training in Sports Medicine and arthroscopic surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital and the Nicholas Institute for Sports Medicine and Athletic Trauma in New York City. During his time there, he gained experience in state-of-the-art surgical procedures using both open and minimally invasive arthroscopic techniques.

During his training, Dr. Horowitz has served as an assistant team physician for the New York Jets and was head team physician for multiple NYC local high school athletic programs, including the PSAL champion Erasmus Hall varsity football team.

Growing up in South Florida, Dr. Horowitz played competitive sports throughout his childhood. This has given him a deeper understanding about how frustrating an injury can be to an athlete. Therefore, he is driven to treat each and every patient individually to help them achieve their goals. Dr. Horowitz’s treatment algorithm begins with conservative treatment, and if these treatment methods fail to alleviate pain and symptoms, Dr. Horowitz is trained to offer the most up-to-date, cutting edge surgical techniques to improve mobility, strength, and function.

Dr. Horowitz’s extracurricular passion has always been teaching, and he takes the time to teach each patient about their specific condition or diagnosis, encouraging them to participate and take an active role in their treatment decision in order to reach their goals and return to their highest level of function.

Dr. Horowitz is an avid South Florida sports and Gators athletics fan. He played baseball and volleyball competitively in high school, but is now mostly reserved to weekend warrior status, golfing, and playing adult recreational sports. Dr. Horowitz is thankful for the opportunity to return home after years of training to provide exceptional care to the community where he was raised.
